Medvědín on site → Vrbatova bouda
About 45–55 minutes · Alpine meadows and ridges
From the Medvědín cable car station, follow the marked trail to Vrbatova bouda. The route is dominated by alpine meadows, dwarf pines and open ridges, with the altitude gradually approaching 1,400 m.
Approx. 50–65 minutes · Waterfall and Labský důl glacier valley
Pančavský vodopád is the highest waterfall in the Czech Republic. Water falls from the edge of the plateau into Labský důl. Ambrožova vyhlídka is located on the upper edge of the valley, overlooking the forest on the valley floor, the slopes on both sides and the edge of the plateau where the waterfall is located. Then continue to Labská bouda.
Labská bouda

Labská bouda is located in an alpine area at an altitude of approximately 1,340 m. Lunch, water and toilet breaks are available here; reservations are available for CZK 300–450 per person.
Labská bouda → Pramen Labe
Approx. 25–30 minutes · The symbolic source of the Elbe
Pramen Labe is the symbolic source site of the Elbe River and features a stone well and city coat of arms wall. The true hydrological source is located within the protected area.
Pramen Labe → U čtyř pánů → Harrachovy kameny → Kotelní jámy → Medvědín
About 2.5–3 hours · Alpine plateaus, granite and cirques
From Pramen Labe to Harrachovy kameny via U čtyř pánů. Granite outcrops on the ridge overlook the surrounding plateau; the Kotelní jámy is a large cirque formed by glacial erosion. Then return to the Medvědín cable car station via Vrbatova bouda.

From Prague, navigate to Parkoviště U Vodopádu. This is the regular parking lot closer to Plavčice Gate.

U Vodopádu → Tři prameny
After parking the car, take the bus to a nearby stop Hřensko, Pravčická brána, get off at the Tři prameny trailhead. If you don’t take the bus, it takes about 15–20 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the trailhead.

Plavčice Gate
It takes about 45 minutes to go up the mountain from Tři prameny, about 30–35 minutes to stop at the Stone Gate, Falcon's Nest and the inner observation deck, and about 30 minutes to go back down the same route.

Tři prameny → U Vodopádu
Return to Tři prameny and take the bus back to the parking lot. If the departure time doesn’t suit you, the walk back to U Vodopádu takes about 15–20 minutes.

U Vodopádu → Mezní Louka
After picking up the car, continue driving to Parkoviště Mezní Louka, the lunch and wild canyon are connected from here.

You can choose from nearby parking lots, nearby hotels and restaurants or the village of Mezná. The local cuisine mainly focuses on Czech cuisine, soups, sandwiches and light meals.

It takes about 5 minutes to get there by taking bus 435 Hřensko, Mezná. If you're not taking public transportation, walk along the marked trail for about 30 minutes.

Wild Canyon Hiking and Boating
It takes about 20 minutes to go down the steps from Mezná. After arriving at Mezní můstek, walk along the river for about 10 minutes to the pier; after taking the boat, return to Mezná the same way.

Take bus 435 for about 5 minutes back to the parking lot. If you're not taking public transportation, walk along the marked trail for about 30 minutes.

Mezní Louka → Bastei Parkplatz
To Germany via Hřensko, Schmilka, Bad Schandau, navigate to Bastei Parkplatz. When the near-end parking lot is full, the entrance will guide vehicles to park at P+R and then take the shuttle bus to enter. If you do not take the shuttle bus, walk about 3.5 km from P+R, which takes about 50–60 minutes one way.

Bastei Main Observation Deck and Stone Bridge
Walk into the main scenic area from the near parking lot, look at the Elbe Valley Main Observation Deck and Bastei Bridge in turn, and then return the same way.

Return to Prague
Return to Prague from Basty via the German-Czech Highway. Arrival time may be closer to 20:30 during border checks or when there is heavy traffic at night.

Tři prameny → Pravčická brána
It takes about 45 minutes to go up the mountain and about 30 minutes to go down the mountain.
From the Tři prameny intersection next to the bus station, follow the red signs into the forest, and the second half continues uphill. With a span of approximately 26.5 m, the Plavčice Gate is the longest natural sandstone arch in continental Europe; the Falcon's Nest next to the gate was built in the 19th century. There are several steps to the viewing platform in the toll area, and you cannot go to the top of the stone arch.
Mezní Louka / Mezná Lunch

Suitable for dining around the Mezní Louka parking lot, in nearby hotel restaurants or in the village of Mezná. You can usually find Czech dishes, soups, sandwiches and light meals; on Sundays when there are more people, just choose the one nearby.

From Mezná, it takes about 20 minutes to go down the steps to Mezní můstek, and then walk upstream of the Kamenice River for about 10 minutes to the lower pier. The narrowest part of the canyon is only accessible by boat; at the end of the boat ride, return to the same side and follow the same path back to Mezná. The road surface was cool and slippery, and the steps on the return trip continued to rise.
Bastei Parkplatz → Main Observation Deck → Stone Bridge
Round trip approximately 40–50 minutes · Paved road and steps
From the near parking lot, walk along the end of Basteistraße to enter the scenic area. First look at the main viewing platform of the Elbe Valley, and then walk to the Bastei Bridge between the sandstone peaks; other viewing spots are subject to on-site opening conditions.
As of August 7, 2026, the main Bastei observation deck and Bastei Bridge are open; the Ferdinand and Pavillion observation decks are closed, and some forest areas between Bastei, Rathen, Hohnstein and Polenztal are closed until August 31. If there are new road closures on site, please refer to the warning lines and official notices.
